Guys i say that about Appy and im told i am against consolidation.
I am in some ways. But i still see some benefits.
Somethings about it im still not sold on. But it's about the kids.
It won't happen in the next 3-4 yrs.
However sooner or later with declining enrollment and money issues it will happen.
Just like any other business. And yes i know most don't like to hear that. But when you lose customers sooner or later you have to make decisions.
That is the bottom line and the truth.
And if the coal boom we are now seeing begin to fail. So will enrollment and funding.
Im not all for consolidation. But seeing the kids benefit from new schools and state of the art educational tools.
Well im not smart, but i don't think, im to stupid either.
You are smart enough to think with your noggin, not your heart. When I first heard the talk of consolidation, I was as staunchly against it as any man on the face of the earth, but I had to take a closer look and see what I wanted as a parent for my sons. It is not about me. It's about my children.
I was and will always be against consolidation. Not for me but for my children. Granted I dont have any right now since im only 19, but I do plan on having children in the future. I do not want my kids to be going to a consolidated school, I think that children benefit better from smaller class sizes (meaning # of students) rather than larger ones. I want my kids to be more to the teachers than just a name on a mile long attendance list. I would like for my kids to know most of their class mates. when you consolidate schools and they have so many students it's hard for everyone to know everyone. I have a friend who went to a school with over 1500 kids, and he was there from 9th grade until he graduated and he didnt know 1/4 of the people in his school. I know that we arent talking about 1500 kids in one school here. more like 600 or more, but IMHO any school with more than 400 kids has too many.
You graduated?
I just stood up and saluted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course consolidation will happen if everyone has the attitude that "its inevitable".. and Im seeing far too much of that. It WILL NOT happen as long as people are willing to stand up against it.
And I agree with swvacsas, there is no reason why our current buildings cannot be made to serve the students with whatever "state of the art" things you refer to.
i agree with you. Like i said in one of my first posts, if every one stands together and fights it like we did with basham, it will not happen. Thank god only a minority of people have this "its inevitable" attitude.
